Taming Eric

Eric Rothman CEO of Rothman Enterprises had worked alongside his PA Natasha Barrington for almost a year maintaining a strong working relationship with her while enjoying a steady stream of beautiful model girlfriends that passed through his life. He did everything he could to avoid commitment, women were for sex and to look good on his arm but slowly he began to notice something about Natasha that drew his attention and had him wanting her with a desire that was starting to consume his mind and body.It was both surprising and enlightening when one day he realised she was interested in him too and he propositioned her. One week in a hotel for sex and nothing but sex, making it perfectly clear to her that there would be nothing beyond that week.He thought he was the victor when she agreed to his terms but was the whole thing going to backfire on him? There was something about Natasha that drew him to her. She was like no other woman he'd ever been with and for the first time in his life he was fearful of being vulnerable. He had secrets about his past that made him the way he was and his PA was threatening to destroy everything he'd fought so hard for years to protect himself from. This book is Eric's point of view from my first book Natasha's Awakening. Taming Eric like Natasha's Awakening can be read as stand alone novels or read both. Taming Eric does contain bonus material at the end which is not in Natasha's Awakening. These are both long books so if you're after a quick read, these books are not for you.If you don't like the male point of view that repeats the story then this book is not for you although there is so much about Eric Rothman that isn't clear in Natasha's Awakening and it gives readers a chance to learn more about this alpha male who is sensitive at heart.

My Review: 5 stars *****

This book is an emotional roller coaster of epic proportions. You will laugh, you will cry and you will get mad!

We start with Rachel who even though she is with Tim is a single mother for all intents and purposes. Tim wants nothing to do with the baby, only Rachel. He is a complete ass.

Rachel isn't allowed to be herself or make noise of any kind and she must keep Alyssa quiet. On the day of their 3yr anniversary,  Rachel tries to do something special for Tim but he doesn't care.

Rachel gets a call from home about her father's failing health. So she packs up her and Alyssa and make the trip home.

Once there she realizes she misses it,  meets a man who totally falls for her and her daughter.

Changing Fate is a very good book that will just suck you right in! Good to the last word.

My Review: 5 stars *****

I loved this story from the beginning... its about loss and finding love after. Abbey and Bryce are two people  whose significant others passed. They meet and realized they had loss in common and understood each other where no one else has. As they get to know each other better and become best friends, feelings turn to more and it scares both of them cause it feels like they are cheating on their dead loved one. As they work out their issues, they find love and understanding within the other.

It truly is a fabulous story that you should put at the top of your To Read List!!!

Rock Chick Revolution by Kristen Ashley

My Review: 5 stars *****

Ever have a book that after you finish it, you kinda wish you never read it? Not because it was bad but beacuse it was soooo good that you'd love to experience it all over again for the first time?  I just finished Rock Chick Revolution, the last book to Kristin Ashley's Rock Chick series. But it's not just the book but the series I wish I could read and experience for the first time,  again. With the finality of this book, my emotions are so raw and exposed that I seriously don't know what to do with myself. I sat on my couch for the last 30 minutes in the dark with tears rolling down my cheeks, still reeling from Ren and Ally's story. I had to read the epulogue two times. I'm still sitting here as I write this with tears streaming down my face and my heart breaking that it is over. This book is so phenomenal that I couldn't do anything but just sit and read. I love all these characters so much and they've become such a part of me that it is hard to say "The End". Sure we can re-read the stories and remember why we feel in love to begin with but it wouldn't be love for the first time.  I don't know if you've ever read them or if by reading this, you decide you'd like to,  but please,  I urge you to go in and fall in love with these amazing men and women. These books have truly made me want to be a better person and become a "Rock Chick" myself. I have read all the Kristen Ashley books out there,  I love them all, but I don't think I will ever love any as much as I did this book. The only thing I have left to say is,  THANK YOU!  Thank you to Kristen Ashley for making me realize my potential and helping me to want to be a better person because of your writing. I idolize these characters and think all women should! They are amazing women. Thank you to my family and friends who stand by me and accept me for who I am. And of course,  last but most certainly not least all my cyber family and friends. You are all amazing and mean so much to me. I hope you all enjoy this book (and this series) as much as I have!

Rock On my friends!

My review of Beyond The Sun by Sandra Bischoff

Book Blurb:

Fifteen years ago Jared Bonatelli had it all. The youngest son of one of the founding families in the Conservatorship of The Dark Order he lived a life you only thought existed in novels and nightmares. He had just graduated from Oxford University and became engaged to his childhood sweetheart when he lost it all in one violent act. The very next day he found himself shipped off to New Orleans with only the money in his pocket and whatever he could fit in one suitcase. Since that night he has suffered reliving his fiancé’s murder repeatedly in his dreams. It isn't until he finds himself summoned back to New York for an emergency meeting of the Conservatorship that the comfortable world he lives in begins to crumble around him.

Alexandra Toscano has been searching for the one assignment that could catapult her journalistic career. When her editor Gene O’Hanlon drops a manila folder in her lap, Alex is immediately skeptical. At first glance the information he hands her seems like a publicity piece that is till she comes across an article he wrote some fifteen years ago about Vampires murdering a young woman in Central Park. She is ready to laugh it off as a work of fiction until he points out he was an eyewitness to the whole thing. But that wasn’t all. The girl’s boyfriend was a member of a prominent Italian family who vanished the very next day.

Now as Alex begins to dig deeper into Jared’s life she begins to question her own past. Could the answer she seeks be found in the glowing eyes of the one person she is sworn to expose? Or will they both find themselves torn apart by a world Beyond the Sun?

My Review: 5 stars *****

I was lucky enough to receive and ARC for a review.
Contains Spoilers.

This book took me by surprise. I was thinking its just another vampire book, don't get me wrong, I love vampire books but sometimes they all seem to be about the same thing... This one was totally different and sooo good... I want more and at the end of the book is the preview to the next book.

So, this book starts off with Jared Bonatelli and his fiancé Giovanna. They just got engaged over dinner and they are going for a carriage ride thru central park. (swoon!!) As they are talking, they are suddenly attacked. Giovanna was killed (or was she) and they came after him.

Then it jumps to 15yrs in the future. Jared wakes up in a panic. Sweat all over and his legs entwined in the sheets. He grabbed his prescription of Xanax and realizes he is out... Its been 15yrs since he has been home. After all that happened with Giovanna the Conservatorship sent him to New Orleans to hide out.

Then we go to Alex. who is a reporter at a local paper. She just got handed this assignment that she thought was just one big cruel sick joke... She went in to confront her boss. Turns out the assignment is an expose on Jared Bonatelli and how his girlfriend/fiance was murdered by Vampires 15 yrs prior. After looking into the file, she sees that her boss was the original eye witness and saw the whole thing. Well the Conservatorship being what it is, It protects all the supernatural. So they covered up the attack and made Gene O'Hanlon look like he was off his rocker. Made him a laughing stock. He made it to where Alex was going to the black tie benefit that night to make initial contact with Jared.

Alex made it to the benefit and saw Jared come in... she kept her eye on him. Jared feeling that someone was watching, looked up right at where she was standing. Alex effectively moved just in time to not get seen ran right into the Princess of Vampires, Absinthe. After an altercation between them, Alex hears a very manly voice behind her. She turns around and sees the most beautiful blue eyes she has ever seen, Jared. They talk and he realizes that unlike most people in his life he feels like he can talk to her. They chat for a while and she realizes it gets late and she has to go. She gives him her card so he can call her for coffee.

After the benefit, Jared decides to go by the cemetery where Giovanna is buried. Hes at her grave and crying about how he misses her and loved her with all his being. He feels like there is someone else in the graveyard with him. After calling out and no answer he decides to leave. Then we find out Absinthe was in the graveyard hiding with her "pet" showing her that it was all a facade and that he doesn't really miss his lost love. That while he was gone he got over that love and moved on.

Jared and his best friend, shifter Lance go to the Conservatorship meeting. They find out the reason Jared was summoned back from New Orleans was cause his dad, the head of the Conservatorship would like to retire and have Jared take over. Jared's older brother Tony, who has always had his back, gets pissed. He thinks its his right to be the head of the Dark Order, not Jared. He said Jared wasn't even blood, how could he become the head of the Order? Jared and Tony get into fisticuffs and Jared beats Tony down. After Lance pulled Jared off his so-called brother, they left and went to the Final Resting Place, a bar that caters to the supernatural. Jared invited Alex to join them.

After they find out that Giovanna didn't die in the park 15yrs prior, Jared gets drugged and Lance and Alex take him back to Alex's apartment. After sleeping it off, he gets up the next morning and sees Alex at the table on her laptop. Alex decides to have full disclosure with him and tells him that she was assigned to expose him and all his secrets... Jared knowing that was going on, said some hurtful things to Alex. She ran to her room and locked the door asking him to leave.

So a lot more happens in this book that if I keep going I will give away everything and I can't do that... Then whats the point of you reading it??? Anyhow... this book was phenomenally written and I loved every single word... I laughed and cried and felt pain as if it were me in that book. I love when a book can fully hit me emotionally. I feel what the characters are feeling. If you like books where you are deep and entrenched into the characters, this book is for you!!

My Review for Catching a Cardinal by Genevieve Scholl

Book Blurb:

Morgan Percy would do anything for her father; including marrying a man she didn’t love.

Then, after finding out that it was dark magic she had witnessed, she enlists the help of The Birds of Paradise Rescue Team. My Review:  5 stars *****

CONTAINS SPOILERS. Received and ARC for an honest review.

This book was phenomenal! I loved every second of this book and I really hope there is more to come.

Morgan is a 25yr old woman who would do anything to help her family, even marry a man she doesn't love, who is 30yrs older than her. To help her dad keep his business, she marries Vincent Brown or VB as he is known.

On the night of her wedding, she hears loud booms and doesn't where they are coming from. She goes to look and happens upon a library. As she goes to pull out a book, it opens a secret passage. She decides to check it out and walks down the stairs and sees her new husband speaking a foreign language and making sparks fly out of his fingers. After getting thoroughly freaked out, she runs up the stairs, grabs a pair of shoes and runs out the door.

Elliot Brown is the son of VB and a Nuclear Physicist that works with the Birds of Paradise Rescue Team. As he is coming home from a job, he looks around and sees the bathroom window broken. He slowly makes his way around the house and finds nothing disturbed. He calls out and out of his closet comes the beautiful Morgan with her fiery red hair.

After he calls in back up she explains the story of what she saw. They decide to make her a client and help her. She goes back home undercover and starts snooping around the house. She takes Elliot back to the dungeon lair. As they are coming back up the stairs, they find out he is back. Elliot leaves and Morgan sits reading a book, acting like all is normal.

Later that night Morgan sneaks out with Elliot and they have a romantic picnic in woods near the house. They heard a loud explosion, it was the van that had Elliot's team in it. Morgan makes her way in to find her husband and decides to head straight to the secret passage, only to thwarted by VB. He knew someone was against him but didn't think it was his new bride. He dragged her down the stairs and threw her onto the floor.

He had her tied up. Elliot came rushing in to stop him and realized it was a trap. Elliot realized he was going to die...

This book was really good and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I want more. It was beautifully written and will capture your attention from the first sentence and hold it to the very end.

My review of Until Death Do Us Part by James Fuller

Book Blurb:

What was supposed to be a lustful night of passion and sinful, sexual thrill turned bloody in a way he could never have imagined, revealing a predator that plagued the night and feasted on the living...Fuelled by the bleakest of hope and the haunting images of the past, Conner cleaves a path of retribution through the midnight world of vampires; dangling his morals and life in the balance to retain what little he has left of his former self, praying each step will bring him closer to finding ‘her’ and the one that took everything from him...

My Review: 5 stars *****

I was given an ARC for an honest review. Does contain spoilers!

Normally this book isn't my cup of tea, but wow this book was really good. Erotica written in general is pretty hard but for a man to write it so well is a huge feat. It is a story about love so deep that the hero will do anything to save his wife even if it means he is marking his soul.
It starts with Conner sitting in a dark and dank motel room, two women on the bed naked and passed out. He is sitting there and waiting for the enemy to show up. Keeping watch and laying in wait, he sits and smokes... Noises in the hall catch his attention. Suddenly the door slams open and a big vampire is standing in the door screaming at Conner. Conner shoots once. The vampire stumbles and realizes his not healing instantly. Conner shoots two more bullets. Vampire stumbles and yells at Conner. Conner asks who sent him and the vampire wouldn't cooperate with him so he shoots to kill. After killing the vampire, he checks the girls to see if they are now freed from the spell. One girl was, which means the other girl is still being mind controlled by vampires.
He takes both girls back home with him. The one still under vampire possession, he locks in a cell in his basement, the one who is now back to her self, he puts her in the spare room. His brother William comes in and helps him out. As they are in the study, discussing Williams headaches. He suffers from serious migraines and Conner goes to some great lengths to get his medication. They also discuss how the entire night was a set up because the vampire that came through the door at the motel knew his name... so it comes to figure he was sent by HER.
Next thing we find out is Conner is married to a woman named Grace. On their 5yr wedding anniversary they decide it is time to be a little adventurous. So they decide to hire someone and have a threesome all night. As they all have their pleasure and they think it was all done, Mandy, the girl they hired for the night, opens the door and turns out she invites someone in. It turns out she invited in a vampire. This vampire sucks Grace almost dry then gives her some of his blood. Said he is taking something from her since he pushed the girl they had intimacies with and she hit her head on a night stand and died instantly. After the vamp left, he picked up his wife and ran to the car. Getting her home, he put her in bed and he sat by her side and he fell asleep. He woke and looked around, Grace was no longer in bed, he got up and went to search for her. He looked in their sons room and his room was empty except for a trail of blood. Conner went across the hall and checked his daughters room, his son was in a heap on the floor dead and drained of blood, he looks up and his wife is hunched over the bed with their daughter in her hands, drinking her lifeblood and killing her. Conner screams at Grace to stop and she drinks their daughter dry.
All of a sudden, Conner is awoken by a loud scream. He remembers where he is and figures its Kasey screaming. He goes to check on her and figures out she was kidnapped at her car and she thinks it was Conner who did it. As he loosens the restraints, she gets loose and runs. He heard the front door open and shut. then he heard it open and shut again. He looks up and in front of him Kasey is standing with the paper in her hand. She was taken in the middle of June and now it is August and she doesn't remember anything of what happened over the last 2 months.
So these two make a team and go hunt vampires together. Conner looking for one woman. His wife. He ends up working for a sadistic warlock and doing errands for him so he can get the meds his brother needs for his cancer and to find his vampire wife.
Once he finds his wife, he locks her in a cell in the basement. Somehow William frees her and she turns him making him a vampire as well and his cancer is gone. Conner comes home and finds his wife is free and his brother is missing. He ends up killing his wife and her brother kills her maker. William burns the house down so that no one finds anything...
Then Conner is looking for a pendant and Icarus the Warlock....

This book is really good and definitely not my normal but I really liked it and I know I will be reading it again!!!

My review for Yearning Devotion by Rachael Orman

Book Blurb:

Gwen has lived a hard life. She has endured many situations that would have broken a weaker person. But she has found love in her life and it keeps her from completely losing it when things get rough. That is, until one day a man enters her life that changes everything.

Will this man help Gwen become a stronger woman or will he completely destroy her?

My Review: 5 stars. *****

I was lucky to receive and ARC for an honest review. This will contain spoilers...

Holy shit... That is what comes to mind when I think about this phenomenal book that I just finished! I laughed, I cried, and I got really turned on! This book is amazing and I loved it from the first sentence to the very last.

It starts with blood. Lots of blood. She was about to be attacked and her attacker had thought she had grown complacent, he left keys and his pocket knife on the kitchen counter. She hid the knife in her shorts and when he attacked her and slammed her face into a wall and broke her nose, she slid the knife out of the shorts and stabbed the guy in the neck and slid as hard as she could to his other ear. She dropped the knife, grabbed his keys and RAN!

10 Years Later...
We meet Gwen Black. Who takes the subway into the city with music in her ears. Music is her lifeline. She got her GED and was in her first semester in Fashion Design. While people watching on the subway she finds "Mr. Green Eyes".

As she made it to her stop, she gets off the subway and as she is walking and not paying attention, she trips over her own two feet. Before she hits the ground, she feels big hands on her arms and she was pulled up against a really hard chest. As her rescuer asks if she is ok, she turns to see who the deep voice belongs to and looks right at "Green Eyes". She gets a little lost in those amazing eyes of his. Then she realizes that she he spoke and she snaps out of her trance. He introduces himself as Cole Cressley. As she gained her confidence, she winked and gave him a smile thanking him and never giving her name.

The next morning, she sees him on the subway again, they talk for a but, she still never gave him her name. Later that day, on her way home, she ran into him again. Finally telling him her name, they start talking again, this time it kind of hits close to home for Gwen and she gets a little upset. Cole seeing that she was upset wouldn't let her go with out at least calming her down and invites to take her for some coffee. They sit and talk more getting to know each other with out really getting to know each other. As she realized she was there a while, she says she needs to leave and he kisses her good bye.

Gwen has an internal freak out and runs to a cab and leaves without saying anything. As soon as she is in the cab, she pulls out her phone and calls her girlfriend McKayla. As she reaches McKaylas apartment, she goes inside and McKayla knows just what she needs. McKayla helps her relax by giving her an amazing orgasm in the shower. After the shower, they talk about Gwen's day.
Gwen tells McKayla about the kiss and realizes she has liked it. Which scares her cause she didn't think she could ever have feelings for a man and she doesn't know what to do with it. The next morning Gwen is on the subway again and drawing a new design in her sketchbook. Cole comes and sits close and they talk, he asks about her drawings and she shows him one that she isn't to embarrassed to show people. He thinks that they are fabulous.

After the subway, she heads to class then to her job, where we learn she works for Finest Companions which is a high end escort service. Gwen doesn't enjoy sex with a man cause after being held in captivity for 5yrs, she thinks its just something else you do. Her clients pay a little more for her services. She has a date with a 50+yr old man who takes her to a black tie party. Once they get there, She learns the party is hosted by Cole in his apartment. He doesn't know the reason she is there.
After Gwen makes it home from the party, she can't seem to get Cole out of her head, she changes out of her fancy gown and into a really tight dress and heads back to his apartment. Once  there, she knocks and he doesn't answer. As she realizes she is being foolish, she goes to get on the elevator and doesn't realize he opened the door. As he says something to her and she turns around. He asks why she is there and she doesn't really know why and says that. She looks him over and realizes his chest is bare and he is only wearing basketball shorts. HOT!!! He invites her in and makes her left over food. After feeding her, he takes her to bed and they have great sex. Afterwards they are so tired, she decides to stay the night.

Waking up to a crash the next morning, she hears a woman screech... asking Cole who this woman is, the lady says she is his wife. Gwen is taken by surprise, she looks to Cole who is looking at her lap. She slaps him hard and grabs her dress and leave. Completely heart broken, she goes to McKaylas and looses it. Cries in her cheerios. Completely devastated. She ends up depressed and drinking a lot.
She realizes after a while she needs to fully open up to McKayla and tells her all about being held from the time she was 12 to the time she was 17 and raped, beaten, and starved repeatedly. She miscarried 3 babies and the final straw that made her get up her resolve and kill one of the bastards that where holding her was the fact that she was pregnant with her 4th baby. So she escaped and became homeless. The fact that she was so malnourished, she lost baby number four.

After fully opening up, she felt so much better that she decided it was time to quit at the Escort agency and get her life back on track. She remembers she was given a card for a top design company in the city. So she calls and found out if she quits school and takes the job, she will learn a lot more and it is only contracted for a year and after that year if she wants to leave she is welcome to stay on as an assistant or she can start her own line and they will help her with that.

After a year goes by, she is at fashion week about to show off her new line, she gets nervous. McKayla who is now a model, helps her calm down. As her show went great, she goes out to bow and sees familiar green eyes in the audience. After pulling it together, she finishes out the show. While at dinner to celebrate, McKayla takes Gwen out to celebrate the success. At dinner, McKayla sees Cole and tries to warn Gwen but he is already in pursuit. Coming up to the table, Gwen wouldn't let him explain and walks past him.

Over the next few days, she keeps seeing him everywhere. Finally, as she is leaving the bathroom at the gym, she runs into another guy. He tried hitting on her and after she kindly tried to say no thanks, he wouldn't let up. Before she knew it, he was up against a wall and the man holding him there was Cole. Cole explained he needed to talk to her Gwen, but she didn't want to hear it.

Gwen got offers for jobs by a few companies after the success of her show. Even the company she worked at as an assistant. She showed up for her appointment and found out that the lady who was to interview her was out sick so that woman's boss was going to do the interview. As she is escorted back, she enters a huge office and waits for the interviewer to turn around. It turns out to be Cole. He is the CEO and Owner for MHKR. She sees the look in his eyes, he has a flat look and he is sooo cold towards her like he never met her before.

As the interview progresses, it doesn't get any better. As she realizes she is fed up with his attitude she gets her composure about her and decides to grab her portfolio and leave. As she is about to get to the door, she feels arms wrap around her and she freezes. He explains that he doesn't know if he can work with her and not touch her. After he explains the situation with his now ex wife and where he has been for the last year, she realizes cant resist him anymore and they have hot passionate sex against the wall of windows.

He tells her he is picking her up for dinner that night and she was going to explain everything to him so there were no secrets between them. At dinner that night she told him all about her past. He accepts her cause he realized that he fell in love with her a long time ago. That night he stays at her apartment with her and McKayla.

The next day he goes to work and Gwen gets a call about the job she interviewed with Cole and was offered a position with his company. She happily accepts. After that call she gets another really chilling call from the brother of the man she killed 10yrs prior. He threatened her. As a few days go by she hasn't heard anything more and assuming he moved on she never tells Cole about the call.

To celebrate her new job, Cole took her out to dinner. As they pulled up to the restaurant, she gets outta the car and freezes instantly. Cole realizes the problem and looks up, in front of them stands a man from Gwens past. Cole asks if she knows him. All she can say is....

"YES".

This book was phenomenal. Its been a long time since I have found a book that gets me all hot and bothered. I had to put it down and jump my husband a few times... to me that is one damn fine book!!!! I really can't wait for book 2... all I can say is Chapter 9 is worth reading this book alone!!!! That is one hot and steamy chapter!!!! I hope y'all enjoy this book as much as I did!!!

My Review: 5 stars *****

CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

This is a pretty intense book. It actually talks about a subject most other books just scratch the surface of. PTSD. A disease that is widely known but not yet fully understood.

The story starts with Maura and Ruby who have been best friends since 9th grade go to a the new night club that just opened in their small town. Out with girlfriends, drinking and dancing, Maura swears she sees someone who left her five years prior. Trying to see again, he was gone, so her and Ruby decide to go dance. As they are dancing Ruby sees him as well and says something to Maura. They both book it out of the club so hopefully he doesn't spot them. Turns out the man they are running from was Maura's one and true love from high school, the man who gave her all her firsts, Pierson Hammer.

Back Story:

After high school, Pierson joined the Marines like his father did. Before he left for basic he broke it off with Maura cause he didn't want to take away any college experiences she would normally enjoy. Not giving her a choice in the matter and completely breaking her heart. For five years, Pierson never contacts Maura or even comes home, Or so she was led to believe.

With the sudden death of her parents and only Ruby and Pierson's mom helping her through the grief, Maura finishes college and starts her own catering business.

Present Day:

So Pierson comes home after being medically discharged from the U.S. Marines. He goes after his Maura, for him there is no one but her. He was walking down the street and looked into the window of the catering business and saw Maura alone. He decides to go in and say hello. Just a quick little hi, how are ya, kinda thing. That night at the club yet again, as Maura starts dancing with a friend of Ruby's guy, Pierson shows up and pulls Maura to him and away from the other man. That starts a scene of how Maura isn't to be dancing with anyone else but him. Pissing her off she says some mean things and pushes him away and leaves the club. The next day at his welcome home party was close to her house, he sees her sitting on her front porch watching from a distance. He decides to walk over and talk to her. He apologizes for the night before and after she says a few more things that surprises him, he asks her to dinner... she says fine. They have their first date and she keeps wanting to know what he wants since he hasn't so much as looked her way in 5yrs... why now?

After a few days, Ruby and Maura go through her parents storage unit. As they are sorting stuff out, Ruby finds a stack of letters from Pierson addressed to Maura starting about nine months after he left. Maura had never known he wrote. Her parents weren't huge fans of Pierson's and they hid them from her. After calling it a day, Maura and Ruby head home to read the letters. After finding out that he never stopped loving her, that he missed her like crazy, used her photo for inspiration to make it home safe, she and Ruby cried. Realizing she spent a good amount of time reading the letters and crying she almost forgot her date that night with Pierson to celebrate getting his new job and house.

Over dinner she lets it out that her parents hid the letters and she had never seen or heard about them until that very afternoon. Pierson makes it known that he meant everything he said in those letters and it all still rings true for him to that very day.

Maura and Pierson pick up their relationship as if they have been together all along. One night after having intimate relations, they fell asleep. Pierson, having PTSD, has nightmares on occasions and on this night in particular, Maura woke up with hands around her neck choking her. She opens her eyes to see who wants to take her life and as she looks up it chills her to the bone to see Pierson looking at her. Only he wasn't really looking at her, he was having a nightmare and he was in a trance like sleep. Maura bucked him off and it woke him up. She rolled outta the bed freaking out. Yelling at him and making him feel more like shit than he already did, she storms outta the house and walks home. Once there, she falls to pieces. The next day she ignores all texts and phone calls from him. She was pissed. She explains it all to Ruby who swears she is gonna kill him. After a few days of ignoring all things Pierson (which pissed me way the hell off. To me this chick needed to get her head outta her ass and realize he needed help not to be treated like she was treating him!!!) she finally decided to talk to him.

They decided to take the relationship slow, Pierson was seeing a counselor and taking meds for his depression. Turns out his nightmares were a tragic memory that he was repressing. After he fully remembers his dream about how it shoulda been him and not his battle buddy that died, he worked and worked to make things right.

After a couple weeks go by, Maura moves in and they keep working on his treatment to make him better. After about another week or so, Pierson proposes and she says YES! That weekend, they have an Engagement party where they celebrate with close friends and family. We also learn that Ruby is pregnant by Trevor, the guy from the club at the beginning of the book, they have been dating ever since the beginning. They try sleeping together again and no more choking. He still has nightmares, but not as vivid as they used to be. After two months go by, Pierson goes by the cemetery to visit his father and Maura's parents. As he realizes he was there for a long time and Maura should be home, he didn't want to worry her so he leaves. He comes to a red light and tapping his hand on the wheel urging the light to turn green. Once it does, he goes... not paying attention, he gets slammed from the side by a driver who ran the red light and then again from the behind. As he was in the hospital, Maura found out two people died in that accident. Maura makes the decision to hold it back from Pierson because of his PTSD. Not wanting to upset him. All was OK with him and was released in a few days...

Then we get to the wedding where it is described beautifully. They all finally get their happy ending.

This book was really good. It did piss me off in the beginning when she acted so rudely to him after being choked. I get the situation she was in but come on, you know he is sick, have some compassion and understanding versus treating the man you love like a leper. Other than that, book was phenomenal. This is a cause near and dear to me as I am going to school to be a Psychiatrist and specialize in PTSD/Trauma. I'm glad someone is talking about this issue vs. just scratching the surface. Devon really did her homework on this and it shows. Beautifully written. I really like the fact at the end of the book she has the link for the wounded warrior project. As someone who donates to them it is a breath of fresh air to see other people caring about our soldiers! Even though this book did piss me off in the beginning I still gave it 5 stars because she did the disease justice and really brought it some spotlight. Besides that one part, this book was truly phenomenal! Hope y'all enjoy!

The rules are simple—no emotional connections, no talking about the past, no speaking of the future, and when one finds order, the other walks away.

All is well until Cooper accidentally falls in love with Andrea.

My Review: 5 stars! *****

I was lucky to receive this ARC in return for an honest review.

May Contain spoilers

It has been a long time since I've read a book to where I can really relate to the female character. I seriously felt I was reading about my past. It was truly awesome. I laughed, I cried, and I think I even threw things and cussed out the wall... This book is simply fabulous!

Andie is a girl who experiences the loss of love and how hard it can be finding her way back. She is from a  small town in Wisconsin, when the mourners keep showing up at the house weeks after she buried her fiancee, she realized she needs to leave the small town life. She calls up her best friend from college Ladasha and moves in with her to New York City to pursue her love of dance. Her and Ladasha get a job at a strip club to make ends meet and as her first night of stripping and lap dances, she runs into a blast from her past Cooper Davidson.

Cooper is a 25 yr old famous photographer, married to Iris. They did a reality show called The Davidson Weddings. Him a photographer and her a wedding planner. While building up the public eye, they were drifting farther and farther apart personally. After Iris had to failed pregnancies and Cooper not around for either, she informs him she is 5wks pregnant and after he realizes it has been 5mos since they have had intimate relations, he kinda loses his temper and punches a photo. After he realizes what he did, he leaves and informs her that they are over. After he left, he goes to bar and gets really drunk, as he leaves the bar, paparazzi take a bunch of photos of him and it leads to him going to a mental heath clinic. After he comes back, his manager talks him into going to a strip club. Thats when he comes face to face with Andie Evans.

They strike a deal, to get over their individual pasts, they decide to sleep together. It works. For just that night, they both forgot all the death and cheating. They go through ups and downs and falling in love with each other. Secrets come out about both of them and they tear each other apart. After Cooper takes some time away from Andie so they can both get their heads together without each other, he comes back to NYC to find Andie and make her his.

This book is a great story that will keep you completely enthralled from start to finish. I read it from 5pm to 2am in the same day. I couldn't put it down and refuse to do it. Its a different style of love story. Completely different from the rest!

Enjoy my friends.
