Steel & Ice by Emily Eck

I was lucky to receive an ARC for an honest review.

Ok. So, starting out, I had a really hard time getting into this book. A lot of drug use and slang talk. I almost felt stupid reading the first few chapters,  but once I got used to it, I really immersed myself in the story of Elle and J.

Elle comes from a hard childhood and has many issues. J, is jaded from a shitty childhood and a crap ex. They find each other and fall in love. J has a very sketchy "job" with an MC. Elle is a line cook at Applebee's,  while going to school and volunteering at a Latino Teen Center.

My only issue is that the book ends when I really began to give a shit about the characters and what was happening next.  I could totally do without so much drug use and the slang was horrible.  Who talks like that anymore?  All in all, I give it 3 and 1/2 stars. I really wanna read book two but only because of how book one ended.... :/

Forever Burn By Adrian Smith

I was given an ARC in return for an honest review.

Ok, so normally this kind of book isn't my cup of tea. It is a paranormal F / F romance. The beginning had me struggling. I really didn't want to keep reading but I did. I am glad I did. The book picked up and got better.

We meet James Matthews who is a female firefighter and Addison Lee her Battalion Chief and Lover.

James has been having the same dream lately about a little girl she saved two years prior. In the dream the girl has aged with the proper time and she is standing in the middle of a fire. The fire is hot all around her, yet not touching her. James crawls to her but all her skin is melting off. Then she wakes.

Addison and James' have special gifts and they are different. The same with Lily. This book is very different but still good.

I give the book 4 stars. ****

Taming Eric

Eric Rothman CEO of Rothman Enterprises had worked alongside his PA Natasha Barrington for almost a year maintaining a strong working relationship with her while enjoying a steady stream of beautiful model girlfriends that passed through his life. He did everything he could to avoid commitment, women were for sex and to look good on his arm but slowly he began to notice something about Natasha that drew his attention and had him wanting her with a desire that was starting to consume his mind and body.It was both surprising and enlightening when one day he realised she was interested in him too and he propositioned her. One week in a hotel for sex and nothing but sex, making it perfectly clear to her that there would be nothing beyond that week.He thought he was the victor when she agreed to his terms but was the whole thing going to backfire on him? There was something about Natasha that drew him to her. She was like no other woman he'd ever been with and for the first time in his life he was fearful of being vulnerable. He had secrets about his past that made him the way he was and his PA was threatening to destroy everything he'd fought so hard for years to protect himself from. This book is Eric's point of view from my first book Natasha's Awakening. Taming Eric like Natasha's Awakening can be read as stand alone novels or read both. Taming Eric does contain bonus material at the end which is not in Natasha's Awakening. These are both long books so if you're after a quick read, these books are not for you.If you don't like the male point of view that repeats the story then this book is not for you although there is so much about Eric Rothman that isn't clear in Natasha's Awakening and it gives readers a chance to learn more about this alpha male who is sensitive at heart.

When Tim would run the other way from emotion and anything to do with the baby, Ray embraces Rachel and her baby making her feel things she never imagined. After a tragic car crash Rachel has to step up and make some hard choices and figure out not just what she wants but what she needs.

My Review: 5 stars *****

This book is an emotional roller coaster of epic proportions. You will laugh, you will cry and you will get mad!

We start with Rachel who even though she is with Tim is a single mother for all intents and purposes. Tim wants nothing to do with the baby, only Rachel. He is a complete ass.

Rachel isn't allowed to be herself or make noise of any kind and she must keep Alyssa quiet. On the day of their 3yr anniversary,  Rachel tries to do something special for Tim but he doesn't care.

Rachel gets a call from home about her father's failing health. So she packs up her and Alyssa and make the trip home.

Once there she realizes she misses it,  meets a man who totally falls for her and her daughter.

Changing Fate is a very good book that will just suck you right in! Good to the last word.

Review for Strangers by A.L. Parks

Book Blurb:

Bereaved bride Abby Clark is tortured by visions of the fatal crash that took her fiancé on their wedding day. She succumbs to a dark existence where loneliness, sadness and nightmares dwell; until handsome, brooding Bryce Holden walks through the door of her favorite coffee shop, wearing the same cloak of despair and grief. Abby discovers in Bryce someone who understands love and loss, and soon their close friendship grows into a deep love. But ghosts make strange bedfellows, and Abby is forced to battle the tormenting images that continue to haunt her, and confront the ethereal presence of a beloved wife to protect her future with Bryce

My Review: 5 stars *****

I loved this story from the beginning... its about loss and finding love after. Abbey and Bryce are two people  whose significant others passed. They meet and realized they had loss in common and understood each other where no one else has. As they get to know each other better and become best friends, feelings turn to more and it scares both of them cause it feels like they are cheating on their dead loved one. As they work out their issues, they find love and understanding within the other.

It truly is a fabulous story that you should put at the top of your To Read List!!!
